Old Movies

Yesterday we watched an old Movie it was "The unsinkable Molly Brown" what fun it was to see a favorite old movie. Movies bring back good memories. When I went to BYU the weekend movie was "Thoroughly Modern Millie" we went and saw it both nights and then we would pretend tap dance down the back stairs to home (only about 50-60 stairs). I love old musicals. We watched "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" on Saturday. What fun that was. I must say I have not seen any new musical movies lately that I liked. I have not seen "Dreamless" and I thought "Chicago" was just marginal. MY mother in law would beg to differ and she loved it, but I was not impressed. My mother took my sister and I to downtown Hollywood to see "South Pacific" we got to miss school. So it became something we did it a lot. I remember going to Brahmans Chinese and seeing "Darby O'Gill and the little people" we had a good day in Hollywood that day. We went to the Pantages to see "Funny Girl" there is nothing like the big screen. I had only seen "Gone with the Wind" on TV and while I was at Ricks they showed it at the Local theater. It was so wonderful. I remember seeing "First Knight" at the movies and during the fight scenes instead of blood and guts like in "Braveheart" the music was so powerful and you could use your imagination as to what was going on. I guess that is why I love old radio broadcasts you have to imaging what is going on (most of the time they tell you) but it is fun to listen. Old Movies are great and especially old musicals.
