What's going on?
Today I listened as my co worker tried to explain the concept of furloughs to another co-worker. It was laughable. I finally just said "Tell it like it is we will be working for free for 2 days a month." that is our goveners gift to us who work the toughest beat in the state, to work with the scum of the earth for free. Oh well things could be worse. I am ging to hav 5 count them 5 days in a row off and it will only cost menone day. Maybe I can use a furlough day. You see I do find the concept laughable. We got a bulletin from the union today wanting us to come to a meeting about the furloughs. They are going to try to explain them to us. I still say working for free for 2 years is just that working for free. I will have accumulated 288 furlough hours in 18 months so maybe I can take a month off and relax. If that is possible. That is supposed to be the pay back after working for free. I have a new calling I am going to be the Primary chorrister. I know nothing about music I know I love to sing and I hope I can make the primary children love to sing also and not just get up in front of their parents and act stupid. At least it gets me out of Relief Society. I am expecting a new box of books I bought myself a new childrens song book. "I am a child of God" is missing from all of the ones we have at home. I like to think that it fell out from over use.

I know it really sucks to work for two days free, but I really think it's a good idea. That way less people have to be laid off. If you think of all the money it would cost taxpayers to support the people who get laid off, you would probably rather work for two days free. I don't follow Schwarzenegger very much, but I remember when I was working at the Tax Commission in Utah, that he was doing a "tour" of all the states in the union that aren't in debt. (Utah and maybe three others.) There's been so much stress lately and it just rings so true of what our prophets have been saying for decades. Get out of debt and stay out of debt.
I can't help but feel that all this is the fault of our "I want it now society". I get mad at all the large corporations that are getting a bailout and all the homeowners that bought homes under false hopes. Don't people save for anything anymore? We have been saving for a car since Matt got home in September. Do you know what we did? We turned off the soft-water and we don't have cell phones or cable or magazine subscriptions. We cut down on eating out and started using food storage. But mention those "techniques" in public and you'll get laughed at. Every dollar counts. I love Jared and Suzanne's goal of saving $100,000 for their home when they retire. We actually have a similar goal and I'm glad to hear someone else thinks it's possible too. Anyway, I got carried away on a tangent. I'll step off my soap box. I really just wanted to say, that out of all the bulls*** I see on the news lately, this is the only thing that makes sense for to me. I am sorry that you have to "volunteer" for society's worst for two days this year. I just hope this will be over soon.
Love,
Dolly
